This was an exciting new series (circa 1992), designed to interview public and private people and probe issues in the public interest. We intended to stimulate some controversy and present new options to perplexing problems. Our story was short lived, yet we set a new standard for journalism on the airwaves.

Television is a wonderful device for challenging the status quo. In the early 90s I had an opportunity to develop a community activist show for the Phoenix market. As with many start ups, we got all our ducks in a row with incorporation and production only to find there were bigger hurdles than we could surmount at the time. It began as a single show and expanded into several others by the time we got to market, including a political forum, a children's show, a holistic medicine show, and a community calendar. Unfortunately by the time we got a couple of weeks worth of shows in the can, we found out that the station we'd purchased our outrageously cheap prime time on could not provide a valley-wide signal as they had promised.
So, the show folded and I went on to the next project rather than find another avenue to air the shows. We did air the first two weeks in the existing coverage area at the time. I had to give up a 3-year project, One World, in order to accept the commercial project and although it was a great concept, I simply didn't have the energy to become the chief cook and bottle washer without promotional backing. I didn't have the confidence in my own ability to make it happen then (1992). I have not lost the talent nor the desire to facilitate a rebirth at any time. Looking for finances has not been a forté for me in the past and I'd welcome a revival of the show's format for sure. Maybe, just maybe, it is time for those who see the benefit in developing community responses for seemingly irresolvable problems to step forward. Collaborative alliances are an ideal way to develop effective solutions.

All purchases support the development of Spectrum Academy, an alternative village for at-risk youth and families caught in the throws of survival and temptation who need more that just a helping hand.
